Operating principle:
- Reproduction of the absorbed dose unit and the absorbed dose rate in tissue-equivalent material (in water) is carried out using the ionization method, based on the ionization of atoms and molecules under the influence of ionizing radiation, with subsequent registration using the standard extrapolation ionization chambers EK-R and EK-I, whereby the increment of the ionization charge with an increase in the measuring volume of the chamber is proportional to the absorbed dose in the differential volume of air in the chamber.
- Reproduction of the absorbed dose unit in graphite under special conditions is carried out by the calorimetric method using the KD-R standard calorimeter, whereby the energy of the incident X-ray radiation is converted into thermal energy in the measuring absorber of the calorimeter.

Results of applying the standard:
Absorbed dose (absorbed dose rate) in tissue-equivalent material (water) is reproduced in the range from 0.01 to 200 Gy (1 x 10-4–2 Gy/s) with expanded uncertainty (with a coverage factor of k = 2) U0 in the range from 2 to 2.8%; absorbed dose in graphite under special conditions is reproduced in the range from 1 to 5 Gy with expanded uncertainty (with a coverage factor of k = 2) U0 = 2.2%.The results of the standard improvement correspond to the strategic and priority areas of development of the Russian Federation in terms of the transition to high-tech healthcare and health-preserving technologies (Strategy for Ensuring the Uniformity of Measurements in the Russian Federation until 2025; National Project "Healthcare"; National Oncology Program 2030) and are associated with the implementation of the principles of state policy in the field of nuclear and radiation safety.The effect of the implementation of the improved standard is largely aimed at improving the quality of life of patients through accurate dose measurement during low-energy X-ray radiation therapy, and especially brachytherapy.
