Operating principle:

  • In organic analysis, traceability to the SI is based on pure organic substances characterized at the highest analytical and metrological level. The mass fraction of the main component in the pure substance ensures traceability to one of the basic SI units—the amount of substance (mole). Thus, the first link in the formation of the metrological traceability chain in organic analysis is the determination of the substance's purity.

    ГЭТ 208-2024 Implements the generally accepted international approach to determining the purity of organic substances—the mass balance method, based on the formula "100% minus the sum of impurities." This involves measuring four groups of probable impurity components in pure organic substances:

    1. Impurities of related compounds (generally, these are components that can be measured by the same analytical method as the main substance, most often its isomers and/or congeners);
    2. Impurities of water (free and crystalline hydrate);
    3. Impurities of volatile organic compounds (e.g., residual organic solvents after purification of the main substance by recrystallization);
    4. Impurities of non-volatile compounds, including organic and inorganic components (e.g., metals in any form).

    The material carrier and means of transferring the unit of mole of an organic component are standard samples (SS) of the composition of pure organic substances and/or solutions of pure organic substances.

ГЭТ 208-2024 The standard is based on universal analytical instruments commercially available on both domestic and international markets.
